I am now a year and one half! That also means 1/2 as a fraction or .5 as a decimal! Remember, Mommy was a Math teacher! It is so strange to think that that at this time last year I was only a mere infant!! I am doing so much now!

I can point to most of my body parts (the PC ones, at most - for now). I call Mama and Dada when I need them and talk to the cats at all times! I have my own words for many things - "didi" is a cat, A-ya-ya means "I love you" and what not! I am growing exponentially!

I am a very well-behaved boy! I understand "no", but get very emotional when Mom or Dad say it to me. I know I am doing something "not standard", so I need a hug!

Here are some pictures of me!
In this first picture, I am riding my "motorcycle" given to me by Aunt Naomi and Uncle Zack!! I am also wearing my kilt! I like the way is shimmies in the breeze! I know it looks like a skirt, but I have roots to deal with - and so what if it WAS a skirt!!

In the next picture, I am sporting a necklace that my Mom never wore, but I found intriguing! So much for those prescribed gender roles (my Auntie Dr. Joan Shapiro would be so proud)!!

Four Generations!!

This past year, I had the joy of being able to take a picture of four generations of Coreys!! It was my first time being able to eat it (I was still on breastmilk last year at this time) and it was fantastic! After breakfast, we opened gifts. I got so many entertaining gifts that I am still confused as to what to play with now!

Later that day, Grandma Corey, Grandpa Corey, Aunt Kim and Uncle Jeremy came all the way down from Lake Ariel to celebrate the latter part of Christmas day with me! This was also a great addition to my already great day! We ate meatballs and hoagies and opened MORE gifts!! Grandpa pulled a fast one on all of us and found "Tickle Me Elmo" for me and I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a special gift!

Speaking of special gifts, Aunt Kim and Uncle Jeremy shared with us at that time that they are pregnant - I will have a new cousin in late July!! Mom thinks it is a girl, but hasn't told Aunt Kim yet!! I can't wait!!

The week after Christmas, the Legge/Cherian family enjoyed the traditional brunch at The Four Seasons in Philadelphia. I ate so much food and had so much fun with the balloons they gave to me to play with! Afterward, Tristyn and I ran all around the place and had so much fun! I really love my cousin Tristyn!! I can't wait to go and visit him at his home in Brooklyn soon!

Throughout the holiday season, Dad had many days off. Therefore, we were able to take little trips here and there together as a family! On one weekend (when the temperature was a crazy 73 degrees in January, we went to the beach). We all had so much fun!

Even More Pictures...

The top picture is of my Dad and Mom's first time flying together. This is my Dad in the air. Unfortunately, I cannot go up yet due to the noise that these airplanes create! The next picture shows my new cousin Bradley Allen Bibalo - my Mom's cousin Tim & Renee's baby - he was born in the very beginning of September. The next picture shows me on my new sit-n-spin that I got from my Aunt Sue for a late birthday gift. It's so fun that Mom even gets on it in the kitchen! It's not like the "old school" sit-n-spin - it plays techno music! The final picture is of me running away from Santa Clause! I do not trust any man that has a beard, is dressed up in baggy clothes, and is offering me candy! My parents warned me about these strangers!! She has been working arduously in order to complete many readings (and not the kind with the pictures), many papers, and much research. She also learned that the word "data" is plural, while the singular form of the word is "datum". We are currently practicing the usage.

At any rate, she has not had the time to watch me, play with me, keep me out of trouble, take me places, do her work, go to class, go to work, and do everything else whilst updating my blog each and every minute. Please accept her apology.

So much has happened since she last updated this blog (how cliche). I have been walking since right after my 1st birthday, dressed up as a bug for Halloween, am saying more and more words, and have decided that I might pursue a career in mountain-climbing when I grow up (for now, I am practicing on EVERYTHING in the family room - including things you would never think one could climb - such as a cat). I have also been to the Camden Adventure Aquarium, where I told the sharks what I thought of their mean demeanors right up close to the glass. Besides for family trips, I have also been to different airplane museums where I run around and comment on all of the displays with Dad.

This past Thanksgiving, I spent the day with my Grandma and Grandpa Corey, my Great-Grandma Corey, Uncle Jeremy & Aunt Kim (and, of course, Mom & Dad). I finally met Mom's cousin Mandy! I ate turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and this awesome sweet potato casserole that my Grandma makes! It was yummy! She sent us home with leftovers, so I had turkey all over again the next day! It was lots of fun! When we were in Lake Ariel, I had so much fun playing with Jasmin and Lady (two puppers). It was also nice to nap with Grandpa after the big dinner!

The day after Thanksgiving, my Dad took me over to Nona and Grancha Legge's house. There, I wore myself and my cousins out by running all over the place with Tristyn and Rohan! We had such a great time! Tristyn and Rohan - if you are reading this, please make sure you rest up before Christmas. I have a lot of new moves to show you and hope you can keep up! Take an extra few minutes at nap time for the next few weeks in order to prepare!

The week after Thanksgiving, Aunt Disa and Uncle Jeff (Mom's friends from college) had a baby boy - Casey James Nicol! Mom, Dad, Theresa, Sue & I went to visit him at Doylestown Hospital. We took pictures of me petting him like a little cat! I wasn't too interested in the baby, but thought the controls on Disa's bed were fantastic and also loved removing the panels from the heat vent! Unfortunately, my friend Annika was not there to play with, but we'll catch up soon!

Unfortunately, I have just suffered my first cold! Mom and I are sick at the same time and are both on cough and cold medicine. I have been waking up in sheer terror for the past few nights, also. Dad heard from one of his friends that cold medicine sometimes causes nightmares in little tikes like me, so I must be having nightmares about scary things!

Tomorrow, my Mom, Dad and me are going to put up the Christmas tree and decorate the outside of the house. We wanted to do it so much sooner, but with Mom and I being under the weather, it had to wait.

My First Happy Meal

Much to Mom's dismay, after running errands around town, I convinced her to go through the drive-thru today to score me some of that fast food they are constantly advertising on billboards, TV, and other sources of media. Since I now have my four front teeth, Mom ordered me what she thought any kid would eat - a cheeseburger, french fries, and a vanilla milkshake. Mom stole a fry from the bag after paying the nice lady and put the car back into gear to take us home, where I would be able to enjoy my first taste of fast food!

The fragrant scent of grease and meat filled the shallow atmosphere of the car for the entire mile home. The fries were so hot that they created a silhouette of grease on the outer surface bag. The milkshake was portioned so generously that the silky vanilla goodness poured out of the straw hole. I just HAD to have some of this fast food!

Upon arriving home, I was so excited to try this artery-blocking pile of yum, that I squealed in delight upon hearing the parking brake set. Mom got out of the car, taking the steamy food to the inside of the door before loosing me from my inner-car restraint. The whole while she was transporting the goods from car to house, I still smelled that 10-year-old fryer smell settling into the upholstery of Mom's car.

Inside, the gate was secured and Mom slowly reached into the bag to obtain my lunch - the fries came first (and another was placed into her mouth) and were set on a "big person" plate. Next came the cheeseburger, which was taken out of its wax paper sheath and placed next to the mound of french fries on that same plate. It was now time to eat.

I sat on the floor and, in one sweep, had a handful of fries, ready to go down the ole' hatch. I took one deliberate bite, then another (all the while, having a look of uncertaintly on my face) and was INCREDIBLY disappointed! Next, Mom tried to help me with the cheeseburger, but I couldn't stand that even more, and spit it onto the floor! Although I came out with a repitition of glottal "DADADA", I was actually saying that I thought this stuff was absolute bilge and shouldn't even be fed to the garbage disposal, where it eventually ended up (after Mom stole yet another french fry). YUCK!!!

Fortunately for me, I did enjoy the milkshake. But then again, I have never met a form of ice cream that I did not like!!

I AM ONE!!!!!!!!!!

On August 3, 2006, I turned one year old!!

On my birthday, Mom and Theresa took me to Point Pleasant to play in the ocean and sand. I wasn't too fond of the high waves at first, but got more comfortable with them as time passed.

On the night of my birthday, my Nona and Grancha came over to wish me a Happy Birthday and bring me presents - it was fun!! I opened my presents from Mom & Dad then, too.

On Friday, we went up to my Grandma & Grandpa Corey's house and stayed there overnight. I slept in my pack n play all through the night for the first time. My Dad thinks I did it because of my Grandpa's HUGE fan - it provided some background noise for me to feel at ease. We ate Chinese food that night (Grandpa kept sneaking me some bad food - when Dad was up for more) and I liked it all!! I had some of Grandma's spinach, some of Grandpa's strawberries, some ice cream (that Grandpa totally snuck for me!!) and more!!

The next day, on Saturday, I had a birthday party with my Mom's family and friends up in the Pocono's. My Mom's Uncle Charley and Aunt Robin came, my Great-Grandma Corey was there, Aunt Kim came with SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many presents for me and took good care of me, my Aunt Sue came for a bit after working (she's a nurse), my Uncle Wayne & Aunt Sue came with many gifts, my Aunt Naomi & Uncle Zach were there with Uncle Zach's truck. They got me this cool ride-on thing that Dad assembled today and I rolled around on. My AUnt Jaime was there after she was done work, and got me this caterpiller I can pull around with me as I crawl on the floor!! Ray & Edna Zeiler, my Mom's friends, decided to come by for cake, and bought me books!! I had other people send me gifts because they could not be there. My Grandma & Grandpa bought me this cool Radio Flyer wagon that's red, and has two seats in it -with cup holders, a place for Mom to carry things we buy at the store, seat belts, and more!! I even played with it the next day inside the house!! To make things the coolest - my Grandma ordered me a cake with my PICURE on it!!!! We liked it so much, we couldn't even cut into the picture and Mom asked Grandma to freeze it!~

Today, I had another birthday party down here in Philly. My Mom's college friends came - Theresa, Aunt Disa, Uncle Jeff, my friend Annika, the baby in Aunt Disa's belly, Aunt Stefanie, Uncle Terrance, our neighbors, Jim & Michelle, and my Nona & Grancha. Again, I got lots of cool toys, clothes, and books!! I even got a gift card to Toys R Us from Jimmy & Michelle so that I can pick out what I want!! I had another cake here - but not as cool as the one Grandma got for me!!

Altogether, I had a great couple parties and really enjoyed my first ever birthday!! I got to spend it with family and friends that I love and love me!! Thank you EVERYONE for coming and for all that you did for me in order to make my special day so special!!!

Although I love my entire family so much, I want to especially thank my Grandma for making so much food for my party, mowing her grass special so everything looked so nice, and cleaning up to make my celebration nice! Also thanks to my Grandpa who assembled my wagon, made me laugh (and cry when he left the room), and snuck me some ice cream when Dad was looking the other way!! I love you all!

More of ME!!

Here are more pics of me - in case you wanted to see a close-up!! You'd think it has been years since my blog has been updated!! For example, not only am I now crawling at a speed exceeding the PA state speed limit, but I am climbing stairs, pulling myself up on everything, call every animal I see "DD" (pronounced Dee-Dee), took two vacations - one was a day trip to the shore, another was a longer trip to the Finger Lakes in New York, am getting so incredibly big, am vocalizing more and more, and so much more that we don't have time to share!

I can do "so big", where I lift both arms above my head when asked "How big is Deian??", I give five, I do pat-a-cake with mom, pull Sully and Harry's tails, climb on everything, say "Daddy" when I am happy and "Mama" when I am crying or need help, give Mom my pacifier (yeah, we're slowly phasing out the thing - bear with me) when she seems upset and when I take it away from her, she wails just like me, and I give it back to her, I laugh hysterically, and more!!! I have turned into quite the little boy, although Mom still insists I am her baby!!

I will be one year old in little time - August 3!! My Dad is going away this weekend to an air show with my Grancha, so Mom and I will be out sampling ice cream at Ben & Jerry's to figure out the perfect ice cream for my party - as I LOVE ice cream (and scream when it's all gone).

I am also eating "big boy food" now - Mom cooks for me. I eat soy chicken patties, mashed potatoes, spinach, real acorn squash, yogurt, Nutragrain bars, had Indian food while we were on vacate in New York, and sampled my first bite of squid this past weekend. I am developing one of the most diverse palates ever - Mom and Dad hope it lasts!!

Ten Months and One Week Old!!!!!

Wow - I am now officially 10 months and one week old!! I can't believe all that I am doing now!!

I've just about mastered saying different words, play all around my crib (even showed myself how to turn on and off my mobile), and so much more!!

I officially have two teeth on the bottom (they came in together - so that was a real hum-dinger of a few days) and am starting to grow more hair on my head!!!

I like to turn the DVD player on with with my feet and am getting into more and more trouble each day!!

As you can also see in the above picture, I have taken up the piano in the last month and have written a song that Mom has entitled "Unnerved Melody" as I like to add a lot of dissonance to my performances.

Stay tuned for the next of my songs - I am guaranteed to be a bigger hit than K-Fed - and I don't even have Britney or Sean Preston backing me!!!!!!!!!!

Great Googly Moogly! It's Been Too Long!!

Well, the nerve of my parents and not posting anything new on my blog in such a long time! I have done so much in this small period of time, that catching up might be impossible, but I will try to undertake this task in this one sitting!

I am now 9.5 months old (yes, Mom is already teaching me how to convert fractions into decimals, she says percentages are next). In fact, I'm more like 9.75 months old because I'll be 10 months on the 3rd of June!! I am now 23 pounds 3 ounces and 30.5 inches!! I am a big boy! My Grandpa calls me a little "Bouncer". I wear size 12-18 months clothing - as I am a big boy (as stated earlier). I crawl (backwards), sit up with great dignity, am into everything, am starting to grow some hair, recognize people, give hugs, give 5, shake my head "no", and so much more!! My greatest accomplishment happened this morning, when my Mom went to make my breakfast and I called for "mama" when she went around the bend to the kitchen while I was playing with my toys on the floor. When she didn't say anything in return (as she was rightfully stunned), I again said "mama" in a questioning type of tone - Mom then cried and called Dad at work. I am really starting to make some sense of my English (although Mom is teaching me Spanish simultaneously).

I think the reason I am so big, is because I really don't care for much formula anymore. I have 4 ounces in the morning, eat my cereal mixed with fruit at about 10ish, eat lunch at 2, eat dinner at 7 and then have a few more ounces at bedtime, so I'm nearly off that vile stuff! Dad especially hates formula - says it smells bad! I am also eating a lot more table food - I love spinach, ice cream, rice, water, juice (from a sippy cup, of course), wheat bread, ice pops, and candy!!!!! I don't get the ice cream or candy much, but I like to brag about it!!!

This past weekend was Mother's Day and I got my Mom the nicest White Gold Peridot and Diamond ring for the special 1st occasion. She really liked it a lot! Don't tell anyone, but my Dad helped me pick it out. By the way, the Peridot is my birth stone!!

At any rate, I look forward to doing some fun things with my parents soon this summer - like go to the beach, the aquarium, the art museum, and other things, but Mom has to take care of her radiculopathy first (I don't even understand it - but it's a back problem thing they tell me) first.

I am growing so fast, there is sure to be more soon!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://deianthomaslegge.blogspot.com/2006/05/great-googly-moogly-its-been-too-long.html' title='Great Googly Moogly! Mom has been a little under-the-weather with her back issues and has not had the stamina to help me post a blog, but, nonetheless, here I am doing it myself.

I am now 7 1/2 months old, weigh 21 lbs, 8 ounces, measure in at 27 1/2 inches - Dr. Obenrader says I am in the 100th percentile as compared to other babies - and to think I was below the 5th percentile when I was born! I am also saying so much! I saw "dada", "baba", "wawa", and a whole bunch of other words I have created on my own. I even have conversations with my mom and dad and even my toys. My favorite toy is an Uglydoll named "Wedgehead" - my Nona and Grancha got him for me downtown - I LOVE HIM!! I think I'll add a picture of him and I to show everyone what I mean!

Here is a picture of me with my Grandpa - we are good friends. Grandpa calls me "Mr. Deian" and makes me laugh. I like his mustache and tend to throw up on his shirts! Oops (I threw up in Daddy's face the other day, so it could be worse, Grandpa).

This past week Mom had a lot of doctor appointments, so my Aunt Emma watched me and I had a chance to play with my cousin Tristyn - I think I'll see him again tomorrow and Dad will take some pictures, so we'll add more of them at that time.

I hope to be more diligent at updating my blog, but my parents' help is needed!

Sitting up Now!!

Look at me!! While I was there, we visited with Granny Marraffini, Great-Grandma Corey, and Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Kim. We also went to church and I saw my friend Cassie!

To make a long story short, Aunt Kim and I got "rassling" and I gave her a good one to the nose. She caught me with a left hook to the cheek, but only managed to scratch me with an uneven nail. Here we are after we made up and sat down to eat a peace dinner. Happy half birthday to me!!

These days, I am into saying "wawa", eating lots of cereal, sweet potatoes, peas, bananas, pears, peaches, carrots, and anything else I come in contact with (my hands, my toys, the cats). I am not into green beans or pureed meat (tried turkey in broth the other day and could not stand it - I screamed).

I am reaching for things now - my toys, the cats, my parents, and don't like to sit up much, but like to stand instead! Mom and Dad think I am going to be an early walker - look out world!

Not only am I more curious about things around me, but I think certain things are really funny and I laugh out loud hysterically - when someone hurts themself, when Mom acts like a fool, when Dad tickles me, etc. In fact, when I am having my diaper changed, I sometimes mistake that for tickling and laugh at that too - especially when I poop! It's pretty funny that adults have to wipe up my poopy!!

Just a week or so ago, I had my picture taken professionally for the first time. I didn't mind it at all, but my Dad says that when I'm 18, I'll be really mad at Mom for making me wear angel wings and hold a bow and arrow like Cupid!!

Pretty soon I have to go back to Dr. Obenrader to get my six month shots, so when I do, I'll be sure to post how much I weigh now and what I measure in at!

Tonight we are getting a lot of snow - my Mom's "friend" Kathy Orr says that we're getting between 8 and 12 inches, so if that happens, we are going to bundle up and make a snowman in our backyard - Mom, Dad & me!!

The Day With Aunt Kim

Yesterday, my Aunt Kim and Uncle Jeremy came down to watch me so that my mom could attend a meeting at The University of Pennsylvania. I have been so busy drooling, pooping, vomiting, laughing, talking, and doing other fun babyish things, that I haven't had the time to create a real update on what has been happening in my life.

I am currently 5 1/2 months old. I am enjoying sitting up, bearing all of my 19 pounds, 2 ounces and 27 inches on my legs (with some help, of course), doing the bouncy thing with Mom, laughing out loud in hysterics, eating lots of rice cereal, playing with Harry & Sully (by pulling their fur), feeding Chloe carrots, and watching my new fish as they surface each time Mom feeds them. I must also add that I seem to get cuter and cuter each day!

Since my last real update, I have done so much! I had brunch with my Nona & Grancha, Mom & Dad, Uncle Stan & Aunt Emma, and my cousin Tristyn at the Four Seasons on New Year's Day. What a treat! In this unseasonably warm weather, Mom has been adding me to her workout and we have been walking for 45 minutes around the neighborhood looking at fun stuff (while Mom wears me in the Baby Bjorn). I am growing so rapidly, I am going up to the next size in clothing, went up a size in diapers, and am going to have to get a new rear-facing infant carseat to accommodate my height and weight!

I spend a lot of time in my exersaucer - as it is my workplace! I am grabbing at toys out of my reach and cry when the toy stops "quacking" or "mooing" or when Mom leaves the room! When I start to do my "fake" cry, Dad blows in my face and I stop momentarily and laugh at him, only to start faking it again!

I went to the doctor on Monday and received more shots - ouch! I had my first little fever 24 hours after my shots - but the doctor said it's normal - it was 99.4 degrees. Now Mom has to go to the doctor tomorrow to get her shots - in her spine! My little legs ached after my shots, but I can't imagine how it will be for Mom when she gets a large needle into her back!!

My next real post will offer more information. In the meantime, I will be sure Mom takes the time to add some pictures here and there.

Enjoying My Bumbo Seat...

Now that I am 5 1/2 months old, I am getting pretty good at sitting up, but still need some help. As a result of this, Mom bought me a Bumbo Seat - to help me get through this rough lying down/sitting up adjustment period. I like to play with my duckie while I sit in it and feel like a big boy when I am using it. Mom thinks I look pretty funny and laughs whenever I get into it. It is a great contraption, but is difficult getting me out of it (I usually end up wearing it until Mom can pry me out of it with her feet).

The First Day of Winter!

Due to a bad reaction from a medicine my mom is taking for her back, she took the day off of work today. My Dad is still in Houston fixing their jet problem, so my mom decided that we would be rebellious and wear shorts around the house on the first day of Winter! This is me in my Mets outfit. Aunt Kim bought it for me, so Mom wanted me to get some use out of it! I have my hat on backwards because the "word on the streets" is that it's cool to do so - although my Mom didn't leave the tags on it (as they are abrasive).

Houston, We Have A Problem...

Today my Dad is going on his first long road trip. My mom had so much food to eat, she actually fell out of her chair during dinner (I was a bit frightened at the time, but looking back on it, it was actually quite funny).

I spent some time playing with my only cousin Tristyn - he rocked me in my chair, gave me my pacifier (upside down), showed my mom all of his sharks in his shark book, and kept calling me "Deian Beian", as he thought it was quite funny!

I was going to wear my dress outfit, but my shirt was wrinkled. Instead, I sported my "elf" outfit the night before!

Grayslin Taylor Falsone Arrives!

Be still my heart - my first girlfriend was born on November 13th, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Grayslin's older brother Dravyn (5 years old) did not wish to be aired in this blog because he is not fond of babies at this point in time, but he sends his best wishes and is still loving his dinosaurs!

Ouma & Oupa

Today my Ouma & Oupa are going back to South Africa where they are missionaries. My Grandparents took them to Newark Airport where they will depart, have an 11 hour lay-over in London, and then continue to Jan Smuts in Johannesburg, South Africa. In fact, the whole reason my Mom and I are working on this blog is so my Ouma & Oupa can see how I am growing each day! This is a picture of my Oupa and I when I was about a month old.

Autobiography

For those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting me yet or hearing my story, my name is Deian Thomas Legge. I was born on August 3, 2005 at 11:50 PM (Mom says that's good because she escaped an extra day at the hospital this way - you know, being born before midnight). Speaking of the hospital, I thought I'd mention that I was born at Abington Memorial Hospital and Dr. Jimmy Ruiz was the man who brought me here - MmmKay. I weighed in at 6 pounds, 1 ounce (my own wrestling class - fear me competitors!) and measured at 19 inches. This is remarkable, as I was born a whole month early!!

Now I will digress and tell you about how my name was decided by my Mom and Dad. My first name is Deian (pronounced as Ian with a "D" in front), which is Welsh for the name "David". My father is Welsh (meaning he was born in Wales - and Wales is NOT in England!!) and my grandfather (my mom's dad - if you can follow that) is named David. My middle name Thomas is given because my Dad's middle name is Thomas and so is his Dad's! Trying to include both Patriarchs was tough, but Mom and Dad pulled it off!

At any rate, my Mom has been trying to help me make this site forever! She has been drafting entry after entry and finally decided that we need to start things somewhere and we need to work together. My take on things was to set up a webcam in my crib so that I may air my life as it is - like a reality show, but Mom said that it's not the best idea as there are "bad people" out there. On the other hand, Mom would like to boast about my achievements to others through this site, but I think it is a bit on the gloating side. We are happy to announce that we have come to a happy medium and are going to incorporate both styles into this blog. I can talk about my green, smelly poop while Mom & Dad talk about my milestones, smiles and sounds.

So, to bring everyone up to speed, I will continue to talk about myself in the present.

I am now 3 1/2 months old. I weigh 14 pounds and am not sure how tall I am (although I am really challenging Carter's right now to fit into their 3-6 month old pajamas). I am now cooing, laughing (especially when I poop because I know how I've got it made - usually Dad having to change this mess), making sounds that start with the consonants "y", "g", "m", and "d", still peeing in my own face (Nona was the first to experience this when I was a wee lad), and get magically happy when Dad gets home each day.

In the future, I will add more. My mom has so many pictures to add, but needs to find the perfect one, so we will add pictures soon!
